Boating 2021

Eight days of cruising on the trawler Turnstone. Eight days in the middle Chesapeake Bay.

Anchorage Marina - Annapolis - Shaw Bay - Dividing Creek - Cambridge -Solomon’s Island - Galesville - Tolchester Beach - Anchorage Marina

The first day we went to Annapolis. We were on a mooring ball and there was considerable chop in the harbor. It was difficult getting in and out of the dinghy. The blurry picture tells the story.

We crossed the Bay and went up the Wye River near St Michael’s. We anchored at Shaw Bay were Jennifer had a chance to use the stand-up paddle board. The next day we went further up the creek to a really remote location in Dividing Creek.

We left the Wye River, jumped out into the Chesapeake Bay for a few short miles. We turned east into the Choptank River to the city of Cambridge.

Across the Bay to Solomon’s Island. We visited their famous Tiki Bar, which allows dogs.

We headed north up to Galesville. We anchored on a very windy day.

We left Galesville and once again crossed the bay. We spotted dolphins, bald eagles and pelicans! We entered the narrow and twisting inlet at Tolchester Beach. It is a marina, but on the weekend it is a boating beach bar with bikinis, drinking, speed boats and bands.

We headed straight west from Tolchester Beach into the Patapsco River and back home to Baltimore. As usual there were exciting scenes in the working harbor. The photo shows wind turbine blades being unloaded. Inside the yellow circle are three tiny men in yellow vest.

Once we return to our marina, Abigail immediately re-engages with the land.
