Turnstone - A Monk 36 - SOLD September 2022

A Trawler Yacht proven to be one of the best in a timeless tradition. Classic aft cabin layout, guest cabin forward, two heads, flybridge and walk around deck, makes this boat perfect when cruising with friends. With her high freeboard forward in combination with her flared bow and molded in spray rails she is an extremely dry boat when running into head seas. With the propeller and rudder well above the deep keel, grounding damage is rarely a problem.

The Salon is designed for comfort and efficiency. Finished in furniture quality teak and the soles in teak and holly. Two sliding side doors and large windows all around contribute to the bright spacious feel of the area. Looking aft, the L-shaped galley is fully equipped with a full size refrigerator with freezer. A three burner stove with oven, deep double stainless steel sinks and plentiful drawers and lockers. Forward cabin has V-berths, en-suite head, drawers, lockers and hanging closet. The head fully equipped with commode, marble top vanity and a hand held shower. Aft cabin has a centerline Queen sized bed and plenty of space to walk around both sides. On the port side there is nine feet of hanging lockers and a bank of five drawers, plus room for a washer/dryer. Private head with large shower stall completes this private stateroom. On the starboard side of the aft cabin there is eight feet of drawers and storage lockers and a large counter top. This cabin is spacious and comfortable and the teak woodwork is hand finished like fine furniture.

The engine room with the single engine drive has plenty of room all around for pumps, valves, strainers and water heater. Forward of the engine is large space for the generator and batteries are installed in boxes. The entire engine room is well insulated and lighted.

The MONK 36 is proudly hand built by craftsmen in Nova Scotia following a tradition handed down from generation to generation. The MONK 36 trawler yacht can truly be called the "Cruisers Cruiser". Strong and seaworthy, she is built with the same dedication to safety and reliability as the sea-going Cape Island fishing boats built on Cape Sable Island for more than a hundred years.

The MONK 36 was designed by a legendary naval architect to engineer a cruising yacht that was seaworthy, economical to operate, spacious and comfortable for long range cruising and with the idea of simplified Owner maintenance always in mind. All of the equipment on board is furnished by North American suppliers and as a result are easily serviceable or replaceable if necessary anywhere you wish to cruise.

Cruising at speeds averaging ten knots with her standard 220 HP marine diesel, fuel consumption is approximately five gallons per hour which translates into a range exceeding six hundred miles. With larger engine options she will deliver greater cruising speeds on her semi-displacement hull. The interior design makes the maximum use of space available on a thirty-six foot yacht without encroaching on the walk-around non-skid decks so important to both safety and handling. Storage space is unusually plentiful even when compared with other yachts in larger size ranges.
